UPF 50+ SUN PROTECTION

WHAT IS UPF?

UPF stands for Ultraviolet Protection Factor and is a rating system to indicate the UV (Ultraviolet) protection provided by fabrics. UPF measures how much of the sun’s UV radiation is absorbed or “blocked” by fabric, effectively protecting the skin underneath. UPF ratings range from 15 to 50, and a higher UPF rating indicates greater protection. Garments that are rated UPF 50+ offer excellent UV protection.

SUN PROTECTION IS IMPORTANT

While the sun is the source of energy and life here on Earth; we know its rays are intense. Effects of solar UV rays are cumulative and damaging. We want to make it as easy and comfortable as possible to stay protected while you enjoy what you’re doing out there.

REGULAR COTTON FABRIC VS
SUN PROTECTIVE FABRIC

Typical cotton tees and shirts let most UV rays through with UPF ratings in single digits. Cotton wet from sweat or swimming protects even less (in addition to feeling clingy and uncomfortable). Our technical UPF 50+ fabrics wick-sweat, dry quickly, and protect from 98% of UV rays whether wet or dry.

SUNSCREEN

Chemical sunscreen lotions wear off, get in the water, stain, attract dirt and are a hassle to apply. Wearing sun protective clothes means fewer chemicals in the water, more comfort and more fun.
